Tariffs have considerably impacted U.S. businesses since early 2025, and while possible refunds may be on some executives’ minds, Costco appears to be thinking about its customers first. Costco CEO Ron Vachris said during an earnings call on March 5, that the company would return any recovered tariff charges to its members “through lower prices and better values.” “As we’ve done in the past, when legal challenges have recovered charges passed on in some form to our members, our commitment will be to find the best way to return this value to our members,” Vachris added. Despite the promise, Varchis…

During your home search, you’ve likely seen listings that mention an HOA − or homeowners association. But besides the fact that it comes with a mandatory fee, most people don’t know what it means to live in a place that requires you to join one. This includes planned communities, condominiums and cooperatives. Homeowners in these common-interest developments share ownership and maintenance responsibilities for common areas, such as roads, recreational facilities and structural elements. “It really creates an opportunity for greater affordability and access to a higher level of living because you’re sharing everything related to it,” said Dawn Bauman, chief…

From Joann Fabrics to Forever 21, more than 8,100 stores closed across the U.S. in 2025, according to retail industry analytics firm Coresight Research. If you’re planning to fly somewhere this summer, now’s the time to book your tickets. “We’re right across what we call the Goldilocks Window at Going for when to buy summer flights,” Katy Nastro, a travel expert at airfare deals website Going, told USA TODAY in an email. “The best odds of finding a deal for domestic travel are about 3-7 months out, with 3 months being the latest you’d want to wait. The U.S. economy shed 92,000 jobs in February, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated March 6, falling far short of forecasters’ expectations, and signaling the overall labor market is still in low-hire mode as employers navigate tariff-related inflation pressures, AI adoption, and geopolitical uncertainty. The February estimate comes in much lower than the BLS’ now-revised gain of 126,000 jobs added in January, which was much higher than the agency’s revised figures for 2025, when U.S. employers added only 181,000 jobs throughout the entire year, or about 15,000 a month. Over the past year, economic output has continued to grow as…

Plenty of people love to argue about the politics of the Trump family, but if you want to understand what’s really going on, you have to look at the math. Since the 2024 election, the family has launched or heavily promoted a slew of new financial ventures. The marketing pitches are always massive, promising to revolutionize finance or media. But as an investor, you shouldn’t care about the marketing. You need to care about the mechanics of the deal. I’ve looked at the recent financial filings and market data from early 2026. The verdict is consistent across the board. The…

Instead of paper, hand-replaced price tags on shelves, Walmart stores will soon display digital price tags, controlled through a centralized system, according to a Walmart news release. Changes to prices that may have originally taken multiple days will soon be able to be completed in minutes. Walmart first introduced digital shelf labels at a Walmart location in Grapevine, Texas, a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, in 2024. Earlier this year, the labels were installed at about 2,300 more locations. Here’s what to know…

Cases of human metapneumovirus, or HMPV, are hitting certain states, including California and New Jersey. HMPV can cause upper and lower respiratory disease, and currently there is no vaccine to prevent it and no specific antiviral therapy to treat it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Instead, medical care can be “supportive,” the CDC notes, which often involves treating symptoms. “Most people will recover on their own,” the agency notes, but adds people who get sick should drink plenty of liquids, stay home and rest. The Cleveland Clinic says treatments for the virus can include oxygen therapy…
