For generations, minivans have been seen as the quintessential family vehicle. But your family might be safer in an SUV, according to recent crash testing that was conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Arlington, Va.-based group, which represents the insurance industry, said on Tuesday, March 24, that there were no minivans, minicars or small pickup winners among its 2026 Top Safety Pick awards. The news came as the group said that SUVs make up 35 of the 45 winners for the group’s Top Safety Pick+ designation this year, and 12 of its 18 Top Safety Pick winners.…

For those who believe history always repeats itself, a surge in oil prices amid a weakening economy is a scary sign. Economists, analysts, and investors have spent the past few days sounding the alarm about stagflation, a uniquely nerve-racking scenario in which high inflation dogs a low-growth, stagnant economy. It was last seen in the United States in the 1970s, and conjures images of lines at gas stations and interest rates in the double digits. What Experts Are Saying “The U.S. is seeing a growth shock,” said Don Rissmiller, partner and chief economist for Strategas, in a March 8 note…

Missed student loan payments continue to hurt Americans’ average credit score, but the pain is evenly distributed, according to the credit scoring company FICO. The national FICO score, or three-digit number used to summarize your credit report, fell a point to 714 from April 2025 and two points from October 2024, the company said in its latest FICO Score Credit Insights report. The drop was driven primarily by resumed student loan delinquency reporting and a slight uptick in mortgage delinquencies, FICO said. Declining FICO scores can be concerning because lenders use them to decide whether to approve loans and credit…
