The German-owned discount supermarket chain initiated the recall after discovering the product, which contained tree nuts, was distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of hazelnuts. Consumers have yet to report an illness in connection with the recall. Because Favorina Chocolate Ladybugs contain an “undeclared hazelnut allergen,” customers who purchased the product run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if and when the German style nougat is consumed.
